More pictures!

While Paula and I (wo)manned the ticket booths at the Boll Family YMCA on Saturday and Sunday, Bob Andersen took plenty of pictures for us!

You can see all pictures here of course!

On both Saturday and Sunday there were film panels and workshops. I can't be sure which this is, but from what I hear, everything went just great!

The audience turnout was perfectly sized for the fee-based workshops.

I wish I could have made it, it looks pretty interesting!

Bob was pumped. He never stands still, though! Nearly impossible to take a clear candid shot of our dear Bob.

Everyone working at the festival, and much of the audience, really enjoyed all of the food and drink at 1515 Broadway cafe!

So much thanks to them for having us!

More exciting pictures to come, with news about the awards!

The life of a volunteer!

On Thursday, I folded some shirts.

Here they are with the pretty display!

Nice, huh? Then I hung around taking pictures of people and things, until Satori Circus was ready to go on.

This is Tod and Bob, trying to tell me where the shorts are. Neither of them were correct, sillies!

I found them! At 1515 Broadway. It's a little cafe with a huge space in the back for poetry, film showings, and live performances. I love it! The food is tasty, too!

Satori Circus performed Thursday night before the shorts. If you can't tell from these pictures, it was super fun. I had never seen him before, and now I definitely want to see him again. And again, and again!

The time between songs was entertaining, too.

After the film showings, there have been raffles. On Thursday, the prize was a $50 gift certificate to a BBQ place in Detroit. Everyone seemed really interested but I didn't pay much attention; I'm not much of a BBQ fan. Bob was so excited about it, he posed for this picture of ... THE WINNING TICKET.

I think that is enough for today, I'm super tired from today's volunteering, I was at the festival from 4pm-midnight! Dang!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to make it down last night (Friday), because it was raining and my car window was broken! We had to take the entire door apart to fix it.. Urgh. Lots of pictures were taken today though, so I should have more tomorrow for you!

For more pictures from Thursday, you can check out our FLICKR PAGE.

Thanks guys! Come on down tomorrow- we're replaying a bunch of programs from the last few days and there is a Film A-Z talk with (I think) Bob Andersen.

Kick off!

Detriot Shorts is this weekend and things are being kicked off tonight with a performance from Satori Circus at 7pm, followed by the general shorts program at 8.

I've been wrangled in to do some bloggin' and picture-takin' over the next few days, and I will promise you that no matter how wonderful I make the festival sound, it will be EVEN BETTER in real life! Oh, and inexpensive to boot!

Tonight we have:
All This Way • Robert Daniel Pytlyk
The Significance of Spirals • Jonathon Musser & Jason Seaman
Fan Mail • Sean Christiansen
Roastbeef • Francois Begin
A Trip to Prague • Neil Ira Needleman
10 short documentary films about my childhood home • Dorthea Braemer
Record • Dylan Reibling
Shut-eye Hotel • Bill Plympton
Keep the Home Fires Burning • Ryan o'Toole
T-Shirt of Me • Matt Meindl
Double Thunder • Potter-Belmar Labs
Dream Detritus • Ross Nugent
The Outhouse • Jack Truman
I Live in the Woods • Max Winston

If you can't come out tonight- don't fret. I repeat: DO NOT FRET! They will be repeated on Sunday at noon!
